Where Ahrefs is better
Ahrefs owns the index. I don't.
Ahrefs runs its own crawler and publishes a link index in the trillions. RankPulse has no index at all. It asks Moz's API for four numbers and stores the answer. Every link fact I show you is Moz's opinion, one step removed.
It tells you which link died
The Ahrefs lost backlinks report gives you the source URL, the anchor text and the date the link vanished. RankPulse can only say the count fell from 412 to 398. If your job is link recovery, that gap is the whole job.
Keyword research and rank tracking
Keywords Explorer and Rank Tracker are core Ahrefs products, with positions updated daily. RankPulse has neither and I don't plan to build them. These are two different products for two different weeks.
Site Audit gives you a list, not a score
Ahrefs crawls your whole site and names the broken links, the redirect chains and the duplicate titles, page by page. RankPulse does not crawl your site at all. It watches four numbers and tells you when they move.

Where RankPulse is better
$9 flat against $129 a month
Ahrefs Lite lists at $129 a month, checked August 2026, with a $29 Starter tier that caps reports hard. RankPulse is $9 for 3 domains plus 2 competitors each. That is 9 domains watched for under a tenth of Lite.
Ahrefs does not report DA
Ahrefs gives you DR and UR, its own scores on its own index. DA is Moz's model and only Moz computes it. If a client, a link marketplace or a sponsor asks for DA, an Ahrefs subscription cannot produce that number.
Spam Score has no Ahrefs equivalent
Moz rates a domain 1 to 100 on how closely it resembles sites Google has penalised. Ahrefs publishes no comparable metric. RankPulse reads yours every morning and emails you the day it moves.
Nothing to configure, nothing to remember
You paste a domain. At 06:00 UTC I pull the four numbers. If none of them changed, no email goes out. Most weeks you hear nothing from me, and that is the intended experience.

Frequently asked questions
Can RankPulse replace Ahrefs?
For most Ahrefs users, no. Ahrefs is a research tool and RankPulse does no research. If you open Ahrefs mainly to glance at authority once a week, then $9 covers that glance and you can cancel.
Does Ahrefs show Moz's Domain Authority?
No. Ahrefs shows Domain Rating, its own 0 to 100 score built from its own crawl. DR and DA usually move together but they are not interchangeable, and only Moz publishes DA.
RankPulse is built by one person. What happens when you lose interest?
That is a real risk and you should price it in. Billing is monthly, so the worst case costs you $9 and a deleted email filter. The numbers are not mine either, they are Moz's, so any Moz tool reproduces them. I would give notice before shutting anything down, but treat a one-person tool as a one-person tool.
Moz recomputes its index every 3 to 5 weeks. Why check daily?
Because you do not know which day the recompute lands. A daily check means you hear within 24 hours instead of whenever you next log in. On the other twenty-odd days the check finds nothing and sends nothing.
I already pay for Ahrefs. Is there any reason to add RankPulse?
One reason: DA and Spam Score reporting, which Ahrefs cannot give you at any price. If nobody ever asks you for a DA figure, skip it.
