This free backlink checker returns the total backlinks and the number of referring domains Moz has recorded for any site, with no signup.
Referring domains is the number that matters more. Fifty links from one site are worth far less than fifty links from fifty separate sites. A profile with 8,000 backlinks from 40 domains is usually a footer link or a widget, not 8,000 endorsements.
Two limits, stated up front. This returns counts, not a list of URLs, so you cannot see which pages link to you here. And no link index is complete. Moz, Ahrefs and Google Search Console will each report a different total for the same site, because each one crawls a different slice of the web.
Use the count as a baseline, not a target. Check it against two or three competitors ranking above you. If they show 90 referring domains and you show 12, you know what the next quarter's work looks like. If the counts are close, links are not your bottleneck.
A one-off count is a snapshot. The signal worth having is a fall: 140 referring domains down to 128 means twelve sites stopped linking to you. A single check cannot show that. RankPulse stores yesterday's count and emails you when today's differs, though it still cannot name which link went. Only that the count dropped.

Can I see which sites link to me?
Not here. This returns counts only, total backlinks and referring domains. For the actual list of linking URLs you need Moz Link Explorer, Ahrefs, or Google Search Console's link report, which is free for sites you own.
Why does Search Console show a different backlink number?
Every tool reports its own crawl. Google indexes far more of the web than Moz does, and each counts links differently. Pick one source and follow its trend instead of comparing totals across tools.
What counts as a referring domain?
One linking site, no matter how many of its pages link to you. A site with 300 links pointing at you counts as a single referring domain.
